This is a take-home assignment. You will be asked to produce a 5-page
book review (no more than 6 pages). The point of
this assignment is to synthesize the author’s main points (in about one page) and to
develop an analysis of one or more issues in the rest of the paper. Since you are not able
to address the entire text in your paper (given the page limitations) you should choose
one or more issues/chapters to discuss in greater depth. You should apply one or more
frameworks, theories, or concepts to analyze the text. You should cite at least two
assigned sources (the PDF files that I have attached) as well as concepts we discussed in
class. You should also cite at least two unassigned scholarly sources (e.g., from
academic journal article and/or books). Your paper will be graded on substance,
organization, and format. I will consider the importance of the issues you have raised, the
integration of course material and the depth of analysis.

Read “Read-Only Participants: A Case for Student Communication in Online Classes

Read “Read-Only Participants: A Case for Student Communication in Online Classes” by Nagel, Blignaut, and Cronje which is located in the Resource section of Topic 1. The link is listed below:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/215774113…
After reading the Nagel, Blignaut, and Cronje article, write a 300-500-word summary of it.
Refer to the guidelines for writing an effective summary presented in the Topic 2 Resource as a guide. (I’ve added the guidelines below in bold)
Article Summary guidelines:
· Make sure to meet the word count 300-500 words. Word limits exist for a number of reasons. First of all, writing to length is considered a desirable skill. Secondly, having a limit is a way to ensure that you select the most relevant bits. Skills of selection are sought after outside of academia, too. Thirdly, word limits give an indication to you as the writer of what is expected from you.
This assignment must be submitted to the LopesWrite drop-box.
Be sure to include a discussion of the research problem, questions, method, findings, and implications discussed by the authors.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required. – I’ve attached the template that needed to use for this assignment
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You have to choose any hiphop recording concert. And following the steps.
Each student will attend a hip-hop concert (in-person or virtual/recorded live concert on DVD or streaming platform) of your choice THIS SEMESTER.
Make sure the event you attend is a concert rather than a passive performance (i.e. lounge act, restaurant band, etc.). You can also check Frost School of Music’s event page for on-campus venues. However, be aware that most of these are classical and jazz performances and look closely at the events to ensure you’re attending a hip-hop concert.
After the concert, write an objective review (1000 – 1500 words) of the concert detailing your experience.
THE REVIEW SHOULD INCLUDE:The names of the performing groups/artists; the date and location of the performance.
Describe the setting. Is it a large hall or an intimate theater? What type of audience demographic is there? Young or old? How do they respond to the music?
The different styles/genres of songs the artist(s) perform.
Use your notes and experience to describe the different musical elements (i.e. melody, harmony, timbre, technology, form, volume, etc.) you recognize in most (if not all) the songs/pieces.
Be sure to arrive on time to hear the entire concert.
Attach a photo of the flyer, ticket, or webpage (or social media event) when you submit this assignment.
Describe your personal reaction to the concert. List reasons why you think it was successful or not. However, do not make this the center of your paper. It should be one or two paragraphs at the end. Further, use data to support your arguments about why it was successful or not successful. (e.g., How did people respond verbally and non-verbally? Was this based on your perception or was there a general consensus? If it is a consensus, then what facts do you have to support this?)
Try to do some background research on the genre or artist before and after you attend the concert. This is not a research paper, but if you use any information from any source (including the artist’s website), you must cite it both in-text and on a works-cited page.
Sit back, relax and take it in.
Requirements: 1000-1500 Words Times New Roman Size 12 Font Double-Spaced MLA Format Excluding the Works Cited Page | .doc file
Please be sure to include an introduction with a clear thesis statement in the last sentence of the introduction paragraph and a conclusion paragraph
Please be sure to carefully follow the instructions
No plagiarism & No Course Hero & No Chegg. The assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool
Please be sure to include at least one in-text citation in each body paragraph
Please be sure to include timesframes in the in-text citations that relate to the information that you are discussing if a video is used. Please be sure to include page numbers in the in-text citations for articles, books, etc.
