According to the book: Getting Real about Race, Essay 20: “If Black people aren’t criminals, then why so are many of them in prison?” Confronting racial biases in perceptions of crime and criminals.
Are arrest and incarceration data a reflection of true and actual amounts of crime? Why or why not? What do you believe official crime data tell us about the nature of crime in America? How would you explain the overrepresentation of people of color at all stages of the criminal justice system?
According to the essay, how has the history of America contributed to the Black criminal stereotype? Is the criminal stereotype applied to other groups? How is the stereotype of the Black rapist still prevalent in current American society? Why were White women seen as entities to be protected? Are White women still portrayed this way in regard to crime?
According to the article: The Injustice of This Moment Is Not an ‘Aberration’
3. Why does Alexander associate mass incarceration, and mass deportation to U.S historical racial politics of inequality? Provide an example from the article to explain your answer.
4. How white nationalism exacerbates the politics of mass incarceration and mass deportation? What are the consequences of perceiving people of color as a problem?
According to the textbook: Race & Racisms chapter 11: Racism and the Criminal Justice System
5. What are the collateral consequences of mass incarceration? Provide an example to justify your answer.
6. As the author states, “effective crime control depends on reducing economic divisions,” not expanding the prison system. What ideas do you have for reducing economic inequality in a way that may lead to reduction in crime? What are the collateral consequences of mass incarceration?

Write a report on Refugee Rights.
Find three (3) scholarly articles published within the last ten (10) years from an academic journal.
Summarize and analyze the articles. Connect your article to appropriate sociological theory and discuss the importance of the research.
Be sure to devote some time to note how the studies’ findings overlapped or even seemed to contradict each other. Excellent papers will consider some or all of the following questions:
-How did the studies build upon each other to provide a more well-rounded understanding of the topic?
-What distinguished one study from another?
-How would you make sense of any studies contradicting each other? Is one right and the other wrong? Or are they looking at different factors (variables) and relationships…or something else?
Criteria
Your paper is 3 pages long besides the cover page and reference page.
Use APA style guidelines as you add in-text citations and format your reference list. Purdue’s OWL website provides guidance on APA style formatting for citations and reference list.
Papers will use 12 point font, 1 inch margins, double spacing, organization and be well-constructed.
You must include full citation of the articles you reviewed. Failure to cite any sources used may result in a zero for the assignment. Only use citations used in the paper for your works cited page.
